I read cozy and historical mysteries, a bit of Paranormal/UF, and to mix it up, I read science and gardening books on occasion.
I love Molly Harper and the Half Moon Hollow books, I'm always looking for audiobooks to listen to in the car so I don't start inflicting my road rage on the masses, and lately I've been stocking up on Christmas themed reads hoping for cheer via osmosis. So when I saw nospin's post about a free audio novella for Christmas - Trifecta!!!
It just finished up on my morning drive to work and I was sorry to see it end. Is it perfect? No - Amanda Ronconi is usually flipping brilliant with the voices, but with this one, some of the voices ran together a bit (except for Jolene, bless her heart). It wasn't impossible to keep track of who was saying what, but it wasn't as clear as usual.
Also, not a whole lot of plot going on. Again, did not really care. But this story didn't feel so much like a stand alone novella as an introduction to a future full length novel; there's a lot of story setup going on and interesting, mysterious things alluded to that never really happen: mystery men, shadowy predictions, and future job conflicts. If so YAY! I can't wait!
But what this story *is* is fun, funny, witty, snarky and Christmassy. The hamster ball at the end left an indelible image on my mind that will provide giggles for days to come.
Thanks nospin for letting us know about this gem - I'd have been bummed to have missed out.
