I read cozy and historical mysteries, a bit of Paranormal/UF, and to mix it up, I read science and gardening books on occasion.
The first book in this series I thought was amusing, if a bit silly even for a cozy but I enjoyed it enough to order the second one on it's release.
What an enjoyable improvement! The characters, while maintaining their humour and their spark, all got a bit deeper and more rounded. The interaction between the characters, while sometimes verging on silly, was much more realistic and interesting.
The plot was excellent, even though I guessed the murderer immediately. Lots of twists and turns, lots of red herrings. I enjoyed the journey, even if the ending wasn't a total surprise.
While the story starts off with the clairvoyance playing a prominent part, it's hardly mentioned again until the very end of the story - I would have like to have seen it play a more balanced part of the story. I was also disappointed that we got no further clues about Morty and the haunting of Sunny's house. But I have something to look forward to for the next book. Overall, a very fun read.
