I read cozy and historical mysteries, a bit of Paranormal/UF, and to mix it up, I read science and gardening books on occasion.
A gentleman recently passed away, and his family donated his entire library to the Friends of the Library for their semi-annual book sale. He was obviously a reader, not a collector, as the picture makes plain, but then again, so am I. And he had fabulous taste: Gerogette Heyer, Mary Stewart, Victoria Holt and Agatha Christie.
There were also a few real treasures, of a different sort than the heart-stopping To Kill a Mockingbird I posted about earlier: I found a few old Golden Age of Crime authors including Christopher Bush and Georges Simenon.
In the category of "if only he knew" - all those Georgette Heyers' are first editions. Not worth anything now beyond the dollar I paid for them and the joy I'll get reading them, which is all the value I'm looking for, but when you look at the dust jackets that they used to wear, it's hard not to be a bit sad about how far down they've fallen in the world. Still, they'll get a good home here. :)
