I read cozy and historical mysteries, a bit of Paranormal/UF, and to mix it up, I read science and gardening books on occasion.
This was the first book that popped into my head when I saw Day 1. It was followed by one of the Stephanie Plum books, and BossyPants, and then someone mentioned Bill Bryson and I thought "oh, yes!" but I'm going to stick with my first book.
This is the first book in the Meg Langslow mystery series and each book title uses birds (Crouching Buzzard, Leaping Loon; We'll Always Have Parrots; or the one exception so far: No Nest for the Wicked).
Murder with Peacocks just - I don't know - hit my funny bone just right and I laughed out loud at Meg's loony family more than once. (And the mystery was excellent too!)
Every book in this series has been top-notch. I buy these in hardback as soon as they're released and treasure all of them, but the first one remains the funniest to me.
