I read cozy and historical mysteries, a bit of Paranormal/UF, and to mix it up, I read science and gardening books on occasion.
Well. Talk about your unexpected developments! Have tissues on hand! Cozies should NOT make me teary dammit!!!
A good read. I love these characters - all of them. Even the "nemesis" seems somewhat realistic - although she needs to be slapped. The mystery in this book very much centers around Ella Mae's "world" and the newfound magic she has; not at all your typical cozy mystery. A lot of background is revealed in this book, which I appreciate - I hate when an author strings out the 'reveals' over too many books. I guessed the bad guy - not right away, but early on. It didn't diminish the story for me at all though.
It will be interesting to see where the author takes the next book - from the ending of this book, it seems it's very possible future books could wing off into the overly fantastic. But I look forward to finding out.
