I read cozy and historical mysteries, a bit of Paranormal/UF, and to mix it up, I read science and gardening books on occasion.
I'm going to cry uncle on this one for now. It's well-written, it's set in Seattle and it's set in a spice shop backdrop with murder by chilli pepper, so I should be enjoying it more than I am. But the MC has been asked to "investigate" and she's decided to herself that she'll take the "case" and keeps trying to rationalise why she should be so invested. That might be my most hated trope - even more than a love triangle.
It's not a bad book, but it's likely not the book for me. I might revisit it at a later date; maybe it's just my mood.
